Our Photo Trekkers were woken by the sun beaming down on the bivouac site, a meadow overlooking the valley. After an outdoor breakfast, they set off across the Greater Saint-Etienne area to seek out more great shots. These images would decide the winner of the 123IMPRIM Trophy, the theme of which, “Vie et Regards”, was designed to encourage the participants to meet local people and to take portraits and pictures of them going about their daily lives. The next checkpoint, at La Valla-en-Gier between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm, was followed by a hike along the “Val Haut” footpath (10 km), making a short detour up the mountainside to the “Saut du Gier”, a spectacular waterfall that proved an irresistible subject for our Photo Trekkers. After handing in their photos, between 7 pm and 9 pm, they sat down to a buffet supper while waiting for the jury to announce its decision. The day’s best photos were shown at about half past midnight. Night spent at the Chalet des Alpes.
